Frontiers of Being
Where Physiology Meets Society
Vision
Frontiers of Being was founded on a conviction that the most consequential questions in contemporary medicine and human science are not primarily technical — they are conceptual. The journal exists to create a space where physiology, social structure, phenomenology, and clinical experience can be examined together, rigorously, without reduction to any single discipline. Its object of study is the human being as a mammal: a regulatory organism of extraordinary complexity, shaped by evolutionary pressures that no longer fully correspond to the environments in which it now lives. The mismatch between ancient biology and contemporary social structure is, we believe, the defining clinical and philosophical problem of our time. Frontiers of Being is an attempt to address that problem with the seriousness it deserves.
Editorial Identity
The journal is independent and open-access. It is not affiliated with any institution, pharmaceutical company, or professional association. All published content is freely available. The editorial line is guided by a commitment to rigour, intellectual honesty, and the refusal of easy synthesis. We publish across six sections — Editorial, Essay, Clinical & Field Notes, Case N=1, Dialogue, and Minimal Bibliography — each designed to accommodate a different register of knowledge and a different relationship between evidence and argument.
Founding Editor
Frontiers of Being is currently a single-editor publication. The journal is open to receiving applications from clinicians, researchers, and academics who share its editorial commitments and wish to contribute to its governance. Prospective editors are invited to contact the editorial office.
Join the Editorial Board
We are actively building an editorial board that reflects the interdisciplinary scope of the journal. We are looking for clinicians, researchers, and scholars with expertise in neurophysiology, social medicine, philosophy of mind, anthropology, or adjacent fields — and with a demonstrated commitment to writing that is precise, honest, and willing to cross disciplinary lines.
If you are interested in contributing to the editorial governance of Frontiers of Being, please send a brief letter of interest and a short CV or biography to the editorial address below.
This About page reflects the founding state of the journal (Vol. 1, 2026) and will be updated as the editorial board and institutional affiliations develop.
